Choosing not to enforce the follow-on, Bangladesh will bat again with a substantial lead of 236 runs after posting a respectable first-innings total of 382.

Ebadot Hossain emerged as the spearhead of the bowling attack, wreaking havoc with remarkable figures of 4 for 47. Supported by Shoriful Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Taijul Islam, who claimed two wickets each, Ebadot's stellar performance saw his Test bowling average dip below 50 for the first time in his career.

The collapse gained momentum in the second session with the dismissal of Afghanistan's captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, falling victim to the extra bounce generated by Shoriful. Mehidy's safe hands in the slips secured the crucial catch, sending Shahidi back to the pavilion, leaving Afghanistan struggling at 51 for 4.

Although Nasir Jamal and Afsar Zazai forged a resilient partnership, mustering 65 runs for the fifth wicket and offering a glimmer of hope, their resistance was short-lived. Mehidy trapped Jamal before wicket for 35, while Ebadot induced an edge from Zazai, brilliantly caught at deep square leg. Mominul Haque showcased his fielding prowess with a sharp catch at short leg, removing Amir Hamza. Taijul delivered the final blow, dismissing Yamin Ahmadzai for a duck.

Nijat Masood Set Record

In the day's first session, Afghanistan swiftly wrapped up the host's last five wickets in just 4.5 overs. Debutant Nijat Masood etched his name in the record books by becoming the second Afghan bowler, after Hamza, to claim a five-wicket haul on debut. Masood initiated Bangladesh's collapse by removing Mehidy and went on to dismiss Mushfiqur Rahim, Taijul, and Shoriful to complete his five-for.

Despite a commanding position at stumps on the first day, with Najmul Hossain Shanto's splendid knock of 146 propelling Bangladesh to 362 for 5, they could only add a mere 20 runs to their overnight score before being all out for 382 in the morning.

Bangladesh's dominance with the ball was evident as their seamers exploited the new ball and utilized the pitch's bounce to their advantage. Shoriful struck early, dismissing Ibrahim Zadran caught behind in the sixth over of Afghanistan's innings, while Ebadot accounted for Abdul Malik and Rahmat Shah.
